چکیده
Biodegradation of pollutants in the environment is directly affected by microbial communities and pollutant mixture at site. Lab experiments using bacterial consortia substrate mixtures are required to increase our understanding these processes environment. One deficiencies working with environmental cultures inability culture identify active strains while knowing they representative original In present study, we tested aerobic degradation two brominated flame retardants, tribromo-neopentyl alcohol (TBNPA) dibromo neopentyl glycol (DBNPG), an assembled consortium four strains. The were isolated plate-cultured from a enriched impacted groundwater underlying Neot Hovav industrial area (Negev, Israel), which TBNPA DBNPG abundant pollutants. Total (3–7 days) occurred only when four-strain was incubated together (25 °C; pH ?7.2) additional carbon source, as both compounds not utilized such. Bacterial growth found be limiting factor. A dual carbon–bromine isotope analysis used corroborate claim that responsible for consortium, thus ensuring actual enrichment.

متن کاملDegradation of Hydrocarbons and Lignin-like compounds by Alcaligenes sp. strain 3k isolated from Ilorin
The primary goal of this study was to isolate hydrocarbon-degrading organisms and assess their ability to bioremediate petroleum-contaminated soil and water. Nigeria is one of the major oil producing countries and petroleum contamination is widespread in agricultural soil. Alcaligenes sp. strain 3k was isolated from a kerosene-polluted soil in Ilorin, Nigeria. We also assessed its ability to de...
